





Bring pictures, postcards and photos to help make your area homely.
Bring white or blue tack to put up your posters with.
Be aware of any time difference you may have if your parent(s) live overseas.
(Try phoning during the day if you are homesick, as lessons after calling home will help take your mind off missing people at home. You will also be less tired and be able to communicate better.)
Everyone gets homesick at some point or other, so don’t worry if you miss people at home, we understand and will help you through.
It will help you to know how to keep your things tidily.
Bring a teddy if you would like!
Name everything!
Keep expensive and breakable items at home.
Bring a good book or two for reading time.
Once you’re here – get involved.
Vive la difference! Enjoy what you have at school and enjoy what you have at home – there are brilliant bits of both!
When will I find out what dorm I am in?
This is generally on the first day of term, when you arrive at school. If you are doing a taster night, we will show you that evening.
What are the rules for boarding?
We have six simple rules in the Boarding Houses:
I WILL BE POLITE, KIND AND HELPFUL TO EVERYONE
I WILL BE TOLERANT AND CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS
I WILL RESPECT THE PROPERTY OF OTHERS’ AND THE SCHOOL
I WILL LISTEN TO THE BOARDING STAFF AND MATRONS
I WILL BE QUIET DURING READING TIME AND LIGHTS OUT
I WILL KEEP MY DORM AND MYSELF CLEAN AND TIDY
Can I bring a mobile phone?
If you are a full boarder you may have a mobile phone in school as long as you use it sensibly and hand it in after using it. Please make sure your phone is clearly named. You will need to sign a contract to show that you understand what appropriate use is.
If I have something special where do I put it to keep it safe?
You have a bedside table where you can keep things such as books. There is also a school safe where you can leave valuables and can get them out when you need them.
What should I do with any medicines I bring to school?
All medicines and vitamin supplements need to be handed to the School Nurse when you get them. Make sure your medication is named.
